How fees work

Plain answers before you book, in the order people ask them.

  • Insurance we work with

We are out of network, so we don't bill your health plan directly. Some plans reimburse part of an acupuncture visit, and we give you what you need to ask yours.

    • Ask your plan whether it has an acupuncture benefit

    • We bill no plan, and we send no claim for you

  • If you pay yourself

You pay at the visit by card. The fee depends on whether it is a first visit or a return visit and on how long it runs, and we tell you each in writing before you book. For an HSA or FSA card, ask your plan administrator.

  • Receipts for reimbursement

After each visit we give you an itemized receipt, called a superbill, that you can send to your plan. Your plan decides what it pays back.

    • Is there an acupuncture benefit?

    • How many visits does it cover?

    • Is there a copay or a deductible?

    • Do I need a referral?

  • An estimate in advance

If you pay without insurance, you have the right to a Good Faith Estimate of what care will cost, and we give you one in writing before your first visit. If a bill is $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute it. The estimate is not a contract.

  • Checking your benefits

Because we are out of network, we can't check your benefits for you. Call the number on your card and ask the four questions above, and tell us what you hear. We would rather you know before the first visit.

  • What the first visit includes

About 75 minutes: a talk about your clinic, your calendar and what you take, a look at your tongue and pulse, a treatment, and a plan for the next visits. Your acupuncturist explains the risks and answers your questions before any needle goes in. The fee for the first visit is in your written estimate.

Questions about a bill

If something on a bill looks wrong, call the front desk and we go through it with you. Ask for your Good Faith Estimate at any time.

Late cancellations and missed visits may carry a fee. You see it in writing before your first visit.
